The vision for the Joseph P. Altman Foundation is to promote and develop youth sports on all levels by creating greater opportunities and experiences in the world of sports for local youngsters. The JAF works in partnership with local youth sports organizations and is therefore able to ensure its funds go directly to supporting initiatives that benefit youth sports in Rockville Centre.
As the official charity of Game 7 Sports, Inc. The Joe Altman foundation will receive a percentage of proceeds from all Game 7 programs. Special events such as a charity basketball game in the spring of 2009 are also planned in an effort to fund the foundation. Volunteers are needed to assist with a variety of duties for the basketball game. Please notify Game 7 at game7@optonline.net Peter Altman at peter.altman@ubs.com if you can volunteer. The Joe Altman Foundation is also looking for caring businesses in Rockville Centre who would be willing to donate services and/or sports equipment.
The latest effort by the foundation was the much needed replacement of the old, antiquated backboards at the St. Agnes Gymnasium. New commercial backboards and goals were purchased by the JAP Foundation and Game7, St. Agnes Elementary School and the St. Agnes CYO all pitched in to have them assembled. It is anticipated that the new backboards donated by the Altman Family will be used by the school and the CYO for the next 25-35 years.
